Bertie Maffoons, the bicycle retailer and workshop which has served Marlborough for 15 years, has ceased trading.
The business, owned and run by Sean Wratten, opened in Hughenden Yard in 2001, and moved to larger premises at Marlborough Business Park in 2012.
But in a notice to its customers at the weekend, posted on the door of the business park unit, the owners wrote: “It is with great regret that we have to announce that Bertie Maffoons has closed its doors for good. This was not a decision we took lightly.
“We would like to thank all our customers over the years – your custom was always greatly appreciated and we feel we have made some great friends through the shop. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this unfortunate action may cause.
“Sean plans to continue providing bike repair and servicing, continuing what he enjoys most – fixing bikes. A collect and return service will be offered to make things easier.
“He will also be exploring how to keep the ride school going to help youngsters get on their bikes. In the short term, please contact him via Facebook or email him on SWcycleworkshop@gmail.com.”
