Very few of our speakers have had such a prestigious CV as Karen Nicol
who addressed the Guild’s March meeting..
A large number of her textile creations included animals,
birds or flowers and ranged from dresses to bedding,
table linen and even large animal rugs.
She worked for designers such as Alexander McQueen, Jasper Conran,
Givenchy, Betty Jackson and John Rocha.
She became disillusioned with the couture world
as she was rarely given any recognition for her work,
so she decided to exhibit & accept commissions under her own name.
In 2015 Karen was awarded the Royal Designer for Industry
and has exhibited all over the world.
