Murder at Wilton Windmill - but first, some wind

Swine of PassionSwine of PassionWilton Windmill is to be the scene of a murder… but not before being invaded by rats and toads.

The annual family fun day takes place tomorrow (Saturday, June 13) on a theme of Wind in the Willows.

There will be a fancy dress competition based on characters from Kenneth Grahame children’s book, along with games and live music.

The event takes place at the windmill – the last working windmill in Wessex - from noon until 4.30pm.

For more information, log on to www.wiltonwindmill.co.uk

Then on Saturday, June 27 Hungerford-based murder mystery company Smoke & Mirrors will be bringing another of their popular events to the windmill.

Swine of Passion is billed as “a riotous black comedy of high ideals, low scruples, pig-breeding – and murder.”

Smoke and Mirrors founder Sue Baxter set the scene: “For several decades, the Peter Irving Gifford School has been going nowhere fast. Now, under inspirational new leadership, this once shameful establishment is to become the Gloucester Old Spot Academy for Girls.

“All that’s needed is the small matter of thirty million pounds. As luck would have it, eccentric local pig-breeder Sir Hamish St. John Hattersley has come up with the last of the cash. As luck wouldn’t have it, Sir Hamish’s generosity is about to prove spectacularly misplaced.”

Tickets to the interactive murder mystery event cost £25 which includes (naturally) a hog roast. Doors open at 6.30pm. For more information log on to www.hauntedmysteryweekend.co.uk
