Paint it Black? Exhibition of Rolling Stone’s art heading for Honeystreet
A major exhibition of art by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is to go on display at The Barge Inn at Honeystreet, near Pewsey.
When he’s not recording or touring with The Rolling Stones, Wood is an accomplished portrait artist who specialises in capturing the essence of fellow musicians.
The freeholder of The Barge Inn, Ian McIvor, is an art collector who owns several of Wood’s paintings. The pub last hosted an exhibition of the musician’s work in 2012. Some of Ronnie’s paintings, including a striking red, white and black study of Bob Marley, entitled Get Up Stand Up, grace the walls of the canal-side pub.
For those with deep pockets, there will also be a chance to buy paintings. Originals command estimates of between £20,000 and £50,000.
The exhibition takes place over the weekend of October 24 and 25.
