War Horse author among top names at Marlborough Literature Festival

War HorseWar HorseThe author of the acclaimed novel War Horse, will be among the big names at this autumn’s Marlborough Literature Festival.

Michael Morpurgo is well known for his children’s novels, and was the third British Children's Laureate, from 2003 to 2005.

War Horse has been adapted as a radio broadcast and as a stage play, with the horses played by life-sized horse puppets horses.

In 2011 the novel was adapted as an Oscar-nominated movie, directed by Steven Spielberg.

Joining Michael Morpurgo on the bill is Peter James, the writer behind the bestselling series of crime novels featuring Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace.

Festival-goers can also expect to hear from historical horror writer Tom Holland, prize-winning children's author Sally Nicholls, Liberal Democrat speechwriter and Human Rights Watch researcher Ben Rawlence, ex-soldier Harry Parker, who lost his legs in Afghanistan, and The Miniaturist author Jessie Burton.

The festival will also mark the 400th ‘deathday’ of Shakespeare.

Marlborough Literature Festival takes place between September 30 and October 2. For more details log on to www.marlboroughlitfest.org
