Countdown to LitFest '17 - tickets now on sale

Last night (13 July) at the White Horse Bookshop in Marlborough the countdown to Litfest '17 commenced.

Chair of the LitFest Committee addressed the audience of volunteers to announce the launch of the programme which features an ever stronger line-up of speakers, headed by Will Self, Frank Gardner, David Mitchell to name but three.

Jan also praised and thanked the sponsors, particularly lead sponsor Brewin Dolphin without whose input the impressive range of speakers would not be possible.   This year's Festival offers over 30 events across the weekend, including fiction and non-fiction, poetry, children’s events and the annual Big Town Read.  Themes covered include Russian history, politics, humour, short stories, crime, food history with Queen Victoria and prize-winning fiction as well as a celebration of Jane Austen. 

 

Will Self wil be this year's Golding Speaker, holding court and opening the Festival on Friday 29 September at the Town Hall.  Tickets will be £12.

 

 

Other highlights include:

  • BBC Security correspondent Frank Gardner OBE, talking about his latest fictional thriller
  • Performance poet Kayo Chingonyi
  • Keggie Carew talking about her memoir, ‘Dadland’
  • International bestselling children’s author Francesca Simon on her latest young adult novel
  • Short stories from bestselling author of Cloud Atlas, David Mitchell
  • Prizewinning fiction from young author, Gwendoline Riley
  • Man Booker Prize shortlister Graeme Macrae Burnet
  • A talk hosted by William Golding Ltd, about the 50th anniversary of The Pyramid - Golding’s novel set in a thinly disguised Marlborough.
