Countdown to LitFest '17 - tickets now on sale

Last night (13 July) at the White Horse Bookshop in Marlborough the countdown to Litfest '17 commenced.

Chair of the LitFest Committee addressed the audience of volunteers to announce the launch of the programme which features an ever stronger line-up of speakers, headed by Will Self, Frank Gardner, David Mitchell to name but three.

Drive electric! - all you need are some solar panels and a three-pin plug

 

Are electric cars really the cars of the future? According to a report published this week by Bloomberg New Energy Finance “Electric vehicles are on track to accelerate to 54 per cent of new car sales by 2040.”  And today (July 24) the government are publicising plans to make us all generators of electricity.

Commander Charles Heron-Watson, secretary and chief executive of the Royal Merchant Navy Education Foundation based in Hungerford and who lives in Ramsbury, is a strong supporter of the electric car.

One empty chair as Marlborough's Jazz Gala launches tonight

 Whilst this year's Marlborough Jazz Gala is all set to launch this evening with Beki Brindle, Sticky Wicket and Friends in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall at 6pm, there will be one face missing - David Draper, possibly the most fervent and loyal of all the Jazz Festival supporters having attended every one of the 30 events since it's inception back in 1986.
