Contemporary folk multi-instrumentalist Rachael Dadd will be joining us in the shop on Saturday 9 November, playing a short acoustic set from 5pm and signing copies of her new album 'Flux'.
One of the so-named "Winchester Three" along with This Is The Kit's Kate Stables and Rozi Plain (who both feature on the album), Rachael now spends half the year in Japan where she's absorbed another landscape and culture and further developed her craft which has seen her win a reputation as a pioneering and thought-provoking artist.
The layered and forward-thinking 'Flux' features elements of minimalism and the pastoral prog-pop of acts like Field Music alongside more traditional expressions of the folk idiom. It was recorded with Marcus Hamblett (Villagers, Laura Marling) and features multi-instrumentalist Emma Gattrill (heard on recent albums from The Leisure Society and Lucy Rose) and a rhythm section of bassist Jim Barr (Portishead) and drummer Rob Pemberton (Emily Barker). The album is "a response to external and internal tides: the flow of life up-rooted: a protest against the flow of recent political history and a diary of the flow within the intimate space of home".
Entry is FREE and copies of 'Flux' will be available on CD and LP. Click Here to let us know to expect you or contact us in-store or by phone on 01672 511106.
