NHS Wiltshire replies regarding Clover Unit

Written by Sarah MacLennan, Head of Communications NHS Wiltshire on .

Dear Sirs

The Clover Unit

I write on behalf of NHS Wiltshire and NHS Swindon to make it clear that the Clover Unit, based at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, continues to provide urgent minor injury and illness services to the people of Marlborough and the surrounding area. That has not changed.

What we have been doing is raising awareness about what patients can expect from the service provided there, so that the Unit is used appropriately. We have had cases where people have turned up with broken nails, small insect bites and minor grazes.

We recognise the importance of providing good quality information about the range of other healthcare options available to patients such as self care, services available from the pharmacy, walk in centres and other NHS services.

NHS Swindon and NHS Wiltshire will continue to work together to promote the ‘Choose Well’ message to our patients.

Sarah MacLennan, Head of Communications
NHS Wiltshire
