Cakes, Singing for Laughs and Comic Relief at St Peter's on Saturday evening
Comic Relief will land in Marlborough on Saturday evening (15 March) when 'Bake Off' meets 'X-Factor' at St Peter's Church at 7.30pm to create 'Singing for Laughs'.
OK, not quite 'X-Factor', no Simon Cowell, but the Marlborough Community Choir will be performing on stage whilst having already performed in the kitchen.
Although entry is free, Vanessa LaFaye, Choir Founder of Marlborough Community Choir is hoping to raise money for Comic Relief by selling cakes either whole to take home or sliced to eat during the interval. There will be a licensed bar as well as hot beverages.
Rather than Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood judging the cakes there will be Edwina Fogg, supported by Carole Walker from the Jubilee Centre casting their eyes and taste buds over the assorted array of baking excellence, with the winning baker being awarded the coveted ‘Bake Off’ title.
Supporting the Community Choir will be Kait Lee as a soloist, as half of the After Lark jazz duo, and as leader of the eclectic Mother's Jam acapella sextet.
Tom and Kerry - Onyx Duo - from Avebury will be performing from their wide repertoire of classics from the 60's onwards, along with After Eight, a group spawned out of the Wessex Male Voice Choir.
Entry is free but all proceeds from the sale of the cakes will go to Comic Relief. Everyone welcome to enjoy fabulous singing and fun (but come hungry to sample all the delicious cakes!)
