The kora is the traditional 21 stringed tradition West African instrument made from a gourd covered in goat skin. Jaliba Kuyateh is recognised by Africans throughout the world as the finest kora player.
He has played all over Europe, in the USA and throughout the UK in some of the leading concert venues and is currently on a UK tour and the Gambian community in the UK took this opportunity to crown Jaliba King of Kora.
In a letter to Dr Nick inviting him to undertake the coronation, it was stated that this was in recognition of the 32 years of development work by the Marlborough Brandt Group with their partners in Gunjur and The Gambia.
