Teens arrested in connection with spate of burglaries
Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a spate of burglaries and car break-ins that have plagued Marlborough residents in recent weeks.
On Saturday, police confirmed that a 15-year-old male from Swindon had been arrested while allegedly attempting to break into a garage on Wednesday, November 25.
Officers said he was equipped with a large pair of bolt croppers.
“The rest of his group ran off and unfortunately were not located,” said a police spokesperson.
Later that same day, another 15-year-male was arrested for riding a red and white scrambler motorbike in a park area.
“This young male was already disqualified from driving and was arrested for this offence, it transpired that the bike was on false plates and had been stolen from the Baydon area earlier in the year,” said the spokesperson.
“This male matched the description given of one of the suspects from the earlier incident and has subsequently been arrested for this offence as well.
“Both young males are helping us with our enquiries at this time.”
Police are reminding residents to remove valuables from cars overnight, to lock cars, and to secure garages and outbuildings with a good lock and bolt to deter thieves.
