You are being warned: work to renew High Street gas pipes starts on January 4

Wales and West Utilities have installed solar-panel powered signs at each end of the High Street warning people about the extensive gas pipe renewal works which start on Monday, January 4.

When Marlborough News Online reported on these works at the beginning of the month it was said they would last fifteen weeks.  These signs are now saying they will last twelve weeks.  The other three weeks will probably see the works moving to neighbouring streets such as Back Lane.

Householders and businesses have been asked when work on their supplies can most conveniently be carried out.  And as the signs say - businesses and the market will be open as usual.

The old metal pipes which are at the end of their safe life, are being replaced with plastic piping which has a lifespan of more than 80 years.

While the work is underway people can approach the on site engineers with any questions.  The Wales and West Utilities customer services team is on 0800 912 2999 or 02921 678455.  Or they can be contacted via Twitter @WWUtlities or Facebook.com/WWUtlities.
