A planning application has been lodged with Wiltshire Council to extend the opening hours of the Rick Stein Restaurant that is due to open in the summer in Marlborough High Street.
The original planning application was for specified opening times: Monday to Friday: 11.00am to 11.00pm – Saturday 10.00am to 11.00pm – Sunday 10.00am to 10.00pm.
These times were accepted by Wiltshire Council when they gave planning consent for the 100-seat restaurant in Lloran House.
However at the same time as they applied for planning permission, the Rick Stein organisation also applied to Wiltshire Council for the requisite licence. This application was granted – but for times that differed from the agreed opening times in the planning application.
Wiltshire Council granted the licence for: Monday-Friday: 9.00am to 12.30am – Saturday: 9.00am to 12.30am – Sunday: 9.00am to midnight.
This new application is to vary the opening times in the planning consent to those of the licence. The application says the expanded opening times “are required for the business to prosper”.
Referring to the ‘closest residential dwellings’ in Old Lion Court this application states: “All customers entering and leaving the premises will be required to use the front entrance of the restaurant, onto the High Street, minimising the potential for customers to disturb residents in the later house.”
