Plans to hold a music festival run by young people for young people will go under the microscope in Marlborough next week.
Marlborough Area Board will hold at extraordinary meeting at 9.30am on Monday, June 20 at the Town Hall to discuss funding of the Marlborough Youth (MY) Music Festival.
Back in May the board deemed that a £5,000 application to the Community Youth Grant from the Local Youth Network should be deferred until a full breakdown of costs had been submitted.
The LYN is the body tasked with ensure there are positive activities for Marlborough area people aged 13 to 19, and people with disabilities up to the age of 25, following the dissolution of Wiltshire Council’s Youth Service.
The Area Board had already signed off £4,700 to pay for the hire of the venue (the track field at Marlborough College), security, toilets and stage hire.
A further £5,000 had been requested for tickets and wrist bands, performers’ fees, marquee hire, and promotion.
The festival is due to be held on Saturday, September 24. Young people interested in performing or helping to promote the event should contact Jan Bowra at janette.bowra@wiltshire.gov.uk
The meeting will also present an update on the Local Youth Network, and on the Wiltshire Carers’ Strategy and Meet the Funder event.
