Ssh! Recycling centres opening an hour earlier through the summer - but don't tell anyone
About three weeks ago it was decided to open Wiltshire's eleven household recycling centres an hour earlier through the summer - opening at 9.00am rather than 10.00am. This extra hour will run until 31 October.
At Marlborough Town Council's meeting on Monday (July 27), Councillor Allen raised this and asked unitary Councillor Nick Fogg to find out from Wiltshire Council why no publicity had been given to this change.
Councillor Allen said that staff at the Marlborough recycling centre were bemused - to put it mildly - that no one had been told about the change. Staff have apparently been at the site at 9.00am but no recyclers arrive until 10.00am.
The notices at the gates stating the opening times for the Marlborough centre have not been changed and the Wiltshire Council website still carries the opening time of 10.00am rather than the new opening time of 9.00am.
And be careful when you Google the opening times as you still get to the Marlborough Town Council announcement from July 2015 of changes to the opening times - with sites opening at 10.00am.
If these summer opening times continue beyond 2016, in future years this change would take effect on April 1 - and run until October 31.
