Great Bedwyn through to Best Kept Village finals
Great Bedwyn has been named the Best Kept Large Village in the Kennet area, with Rushall names the best small village. Ramsbury (large villages), Milton Lilbourne (medium), and Lockeridge and Woodborough (small) were all runners up.
All of these villages will proceed to second round judging and there is no reason why they can't improve on their first round successes. Bedwyn will meet Brinkworth, Bratton, and The Winterbournes in the final, when judges from the Campaign to Protect Rural England decide which is the Best Kept Village in Wiltshire.
Judging takes place in July, and the winning villages in each category – small, medium and large – will be presented with their prizes, including an eight-foot mounted shield for their village green, on September 25.
Two other local villages – Aldbourne and Wilcot – will meet Blunsdon and Stapleford in the Kitching Award, the competition for 2014 and 2015 winners, who are exempt from the main competition.
