Pewsey Vale Health and Wellbeing CentrePewsey Vale Health and Wellbeing CentrePlans for a health and wellbeing centre for the Pewsey area which will provide a range of leisure and community facilities, have been given the green light.

The Vale Health and Wellbeing Centre will provide a brand new four lane 25 metre swimming pool as well as fitness suite, café, community space and a range of other leisure facilities.

The facilities also include space for an indoor skate park where people can skateboard, scoot and BMX and complement the existing multi-use games area which is already available for bookings.

The library, which is located a short distance from the new centre, also provides community meeting space and a changing places facility for those with highly complex needs.

The design for the new state of the art centre has undergone a number of changes to ensure that it reflects the facilities needed in Pewsey and is within the budget allocated.

These changes have resulted in a review of the original timescale and work on the new centre will start next February. The new centre is scheduled to open in the summer of 2018.

John Thomson, cabinet member with responsibility for health and wellbeing centres, said: “Local engagement has been key in helping with the plans for this new centre, which will provide a wide range of excellent community facilities.

“I’m delighted that these plans are now approved and that the programme to deliver the new centre can now start.

“The changes to the design have resulted in a review of the original timescale which mean the current centre will now remain open until work starts early next year.

“In the meantime, we will be working with the centre’s customers to ensure the continued use of the existing facilities until the centre closes and to provide regular updates to keep everyone informed of progress.”

'Health and Wellbeing Centre' is Wiltshire Council's new name for their programme of combining services into one 'Campus'.
