Helicopter scrambled in search for missing man

Police have asked for the public’s help in finding a missing man, following an extensive hunt last night.

Ground forces were aided by the National Police Air Service helicopter – but they failed to locate 53-year-old Christopher Pitfield.

Mr Pitfield, who is from Devizes, was last seen in his dark grey Kia Avenga at around 5.45pm yesterday (Saturday) parked at Marlborough Boxing Club, Elcot Lane, Marlborough.

He is described as: white, 5ft 11" tall, of stocky build, balding with some grey hair, wearing a dark top and jeans.

It's believed he may have been carrying a backpack and/or pulling a small dark coloured suitcase.

Wiltshire Search and Rescue, who are a voluntary organisation who special in searching for missing people, are searching in the Marlborough area to assist police.

Acting Inspector Russell Griffin said: "We would ask anyone who sees Christopher to contact us via 999 or 101.

"His family and friends are very worried about him and I would also urge him to get in touch immediately."
