'Please don’t recycle your survey!' - call for residents to complete and return important Housing Survey

Written by Neil Goodwin on .

Over the past few days a housing questionnaire has been dropping through the letterbox of every household in the Marlborough Town Council area, covering Mildenhall, Preshute and Savernake as well as the town itself.

The survey is designed identify the housing needs across the Marlborough area communities, something that hasn’t been done for a very long time, and will enable feedback from the residents to be incorporated into the eventual plan.

The information will be analysed by independent researchers and will help to provide evidence of what housing is really needed.  This will add weight to the Plan itself and influence the way Marlborough and its surrounding parishes develop in the future.

“It’s an important part of the work towards creating the Marlborough Area Neighbourhood Plan” stated Cllr Mervyn Hall, Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Marlborough Area Neighbourhood Plan (MANP) committee.

“This is a real chance for local people to let us know what the reality is and it’ll feed into our Plan and influence future local development.”  he added.  “There’s nothing in place concentrating on the housing needs of the local area and recent planning issues have made clear the stark lack of understanding about what’s actually needed here in Marlborough and its surrounding parishes.”

If you have already recycled or binned the survey it is accessible online by clicking here, where it can be completed.  Final deadline for all completed surveys, either in the post or online is Friday 17 February.

As an incentive the Town Council are running a prize draw and all submissions received will have the opportunity to win either a £100 first prize or one of two runner up prizes of £50.  “So don’t bin it, you might win it!” added some unnamed creative wag…..
