Claire Perry Launches 'Best Local Pubs Awards 2017'
The Marlborough area has many fine pubs, some renowned for food, others as excellent places to take the family, or some that are just great places to go and enjoy a good pint, glass of wine, G&T or whatever hits the spot. Or somewhere to go just for good company.
Our MP, Claire Perry is today (13 September) launching her 'Best Local Pubs Awards 2017' - open to all pubs across her Devizes constituency - and an opportunity to highlight the many fantastic pubs in this area of Wiltshire, and the unique role they play in our communities and the local economy.
There are four categories: Best Drinks, Best Food, Best Family Pub and Best Community Pub, and of course any pub can be nominated in any or all of the categories. Between now and November 30th you can nominate your favourite local at: www.claireperry.org.uk/pubs-awards.
The winning pub in each category will receive an award from Claire and from the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, and people nominating winning pubs will be entered into a draw for valuable vouchers to spend in their favourite local.
Launching the competition, Claire said: “Following the success of my Independent Shops Awards in 2014 in which thousands of people voted for their favouite local places to shop, I wanted to run a similar competition to help support and recognise our great local pubs. Pubs play a vital role at the heart of local communities and create thousands of local jobs. Please do vote for your favourite local and help them get the recognition they deserve.”
Maybe an excuse to get out and about and visit some of the pubs in and around Marlborough and the villages, and if you enjoy the experience click the link above, cast a vote (or two) to give some of the excellent pubs from this area the recognition that they deserve.
