How many schools will close on Wednesday? – the day of the public service pension strike
On Wednesday (November 30) many public service union members will be on strike – protesting against the coalition government’s changes to their pension schemes.
St John’s School will be closed for the day. St Peter’s Junior School and St Mary's Infant School will be closed. Other schools in the area that will be closed: Easton Royal Primary School; Ogbourne St George & St Andrew Primary School; Aldbourne St Michael's Primary School. So far 59 primary schools have notified Wiltshire Council that they will be closed for the day. And 22 primary schools will be partially closed - including All Cannings Primary School.
In addition Pewsey Vale Academy will be open for year eleven students and closed for Years 7-10 inclusive.
Wiltshire Council has announced that Marlborough leisure centre will be offering parents help with childcare on Wednesday. Camp Activate sessions for children aged five to fourteen will take place between 8.30am and 5.30 pm. Activities will include a bouncy castle, team games and challenges, football, arts and crafts, racket sports and parachute games.

Other leisure centres in Wiltshire to hold these sessions will be: Devizes, Salisbury, Tidworth, Tisbury and Amesbury.
