Army keep fit for Mayor’s charities

The Town Hall was transformed into a gym and the soldiers aimed to complete twelve high intensity fitness circuits in just six hours.

Not your normal Council meeting!  4MI start their workout in the Town HallNot your normal Council meeting! 4MI start their workout in the Town HallTown Mayor, Councillor Hall said,  “I’m really grateful to 4MI for fundraising for my charities and the Army Benevolent Fund, a hugely important charity.  They are also promoting keep-fit in the town.  We’re really hoping that lots of people will come along to the Town Hall and cheer these soldiers on by donating as generously as they are able to.”

In June 2011, 4MI Battalion were the first Army Unit to have been granted Marlborough’s Freedom of Entry to the Town.  Based in nearby Bulford, the Battalion has had an ongoing relationship with Marlborough, which is demonstrated by its involvement with Marlborough’s Remembrance Day Parade and other civic and community events.  A Community Covenant was signed between the town and 4MI during the visit of the Duke of Kent in 2014, reviewed in February 2018 and re-signed by the Battalion’s Commanding Officer, Lt Col Simon Puxley and the Mayor.

Chris Shields, said, “We are proud to be able to support these three charities and we’re hoping to have plenty of local support - it’ll make all the training for the event worthwhile.” 

The workout runs between 9am – 3pm on Wednesday, 18thApril 2018.  All donations are welcome and those who can’t make the event itself can donate via: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/greyhoundworkout
