FROTH being brewed up in Burbage over the change of use application for the Three Horseshoes

Three Horseshoes sign taking a walkThree Horseshoes sign taking a walkAlthough Burbage's 'Three Horseshoes' at Stibb Green has closed and ceased to trade as a public house, a group of Burbage residents who used to regard the pub as their local and an important cornerstone of the village community are banding together to oppose the change of use application submitted recently.

Formerly part of the Wadworths estate, the Three Horseshoes was sold by the brewer earlier this year as a going concern, i.e. to continue as a public house to the Windsor-based developer Red Star WSL Ltd.

Last month a change of use application was submitted by the developer with the objective of turning the former village pub into a substantial four bed property with garage and large garden.

FROTH (FRiends Of The Three Horseshoes) are keen to make this application unsuccessful.  They believe that there are strong grounds to get this rejected and also that there is real interest within the village to maintain the status of the Three Horseshoes as a pub serving the village and its visitors.

Gary Rawlinson, one of FROTH's regulars told marlborough.news:  "We were very disappointed when the ‘Shoes closed.  It is a lovely country pub that has been successful in the past. It has plenty of opportunities to be successful again under the right landlord.  The new owner clearly has no understanding of this or why the pub has struggled, and is only interested in making a quick ‘developers’ return.  As such, we hope others will join our fight.”

Details of the application which is open for comments until 28 June can be accessed on the Wiltshire Council planning portal by clicking here.
