Savernake View Care Home held a garden party on Saturday June 23 to welcome Marborough’s new mayor, Councillor Lisa Farrell and to celebrate the two year anniversary of the opening of the home.
Mayor Lisa, who had come straight from the English Civil War Society’s re-enactment of the First Battle of Newbury, enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings. She said, “It’s lovely to be here. I can’t believe how beautiful this place is. I was so worried after Tesco was built that nothing would be here. The houses outside, the parking – it’s all so well developed. It’s amazing.”
Guests and residents enjoyed the sunny afternoon. Musical entertainment was provided by Benjamin Spender on guitar from Bath and residents and care staff played a few rounds of croquet. A delicious spread was provided by Head Chef, Ilona Tomza.
Elizabeth Cross from Marlborough recalled her time at Savernake View when she spent three weeks there convalescing. “I was beautifully looked after.” Brian and Sheila Green from Burbage had attended a memory afternoon the home provided.
Client Service Manager, Sharon Villegas said, “I’m grateful for the good weather. It’s a good opportunity for residents and invited guests to come together and enjoy the sun.”
