British Legion Poppy Appeal tops £17,000 with the proceeds of the Armistice Centenary 'Roll of Honour'
David Brown, Vice Chairman of the Marlborough British Legion branch accepted a cheque for £440 from Myor Lisa Farrell, the proceeds of the WW1 'Roll of Honour' event that took place in the Town Hall on Armistice Centenary Saturday (10 November).
The Mayor said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Town Council is able to contribute to the RBL’s Poppy Appeal, especially as 2018 was an especially important with the commemoration of the centenary of the end of WW1. Marlborough certainly has not forgotten those who served in the Great War and those who lost their lives in it.”
David announced that the total achieved by the Marlborough Branch in the year's Poppy Appeal had topped £17,000, and he paid thanks to everyone who had helped make this such a great success, by becioming involved in the activities that made this total possible or those who had contributed.
