Officiating at the service Canon Simon Weeden asked pupils, staff, Governors, parents and the Church to work together to support Mrs Turner in her new role.  During the service she was presented with the keys to the school and a Bible. Bibles were also given to each of the Key Stage 2 pupils to support their religious education.

In response Mrs Turner said:  “I have been made to feel so welcome since starting in September, and the service was a special way to celebrate the importance of the church in my role.  Distributing Bibles to the children was a lovely way to all share in this together.  The children sang ‘I am the Earth’ so beautifully too, it was all very touching.”

During the service the Governing Body also acknowledged and thanked Mrs Tara Elliot for her exceptional commitment to the school since moving to the village in the early 1970s.

Katie Turner started working at the school as Headteacher last September.  A statement from the school stated:  “Mrs Turner is already making her mark; with her quiet determination and sense of fun, she has won over the hearts and minds of children and parents alike.”

“She has already demonstrated that her leadership skills will build on the school’s strengths while driving the improvement journey, to provide each child with the opportunity to be challenged and positively encouraged to be the best they can be in the classroom, in the playground and in the wider world.”

Visits to the school to meet Mrs Turner and have a tour are warmly welcomed.  Please contact the school office to make the arrangements on 01488 682630.  To find out more about Chilton Foliat Primary School visit www.chiltonfoliatprimary.org.uk
