Rugby playing kids in Tonga will now grow up in Marlborough kit

Marlborough Rugby Club's Director of Coaching Elisi Vunipola with one of the piles of surplus kit to be sent to TongaMarlborough Rugby Club's Director of Coaching Elisi Vunipola with one of the piles of surplus kit to be sent to TongaTonga and Marlborough have developed strong rugby links in recent years and now Marlborough Rugby Football Club is actively supporting the young players of Tonga by sending back much needed rugby kit.

Like many clubs Marlborough has plenty of surplus kit in either new or very good condition lying around.  Sponsors change, team colours change and good kit becomes redundant and gathers dust.

Working with SOS Kit Aid, a charity specialising in recycling sports kit for young players in both UK and overseas, Marlborough Rugby Football Club's surplus kit will soon grace many sports fields in Tonga, the home country of Marlborough's Director of Coaching, Elisi Vunipola and also of several first team players.

This is being helped by new-to-Marlborough estate agent, Jones Robinson, who are making a significant donation towards the cost of transporting the kit to Tonga as well as joining the Rugby Club as a main Sponsor, a major part of which will be sponsorship of the Club's Summer Ball on Saturday 22 June at Norwood Hall in Marlborough College.

It is also likely that parents of former mini and junior players will have old and outgrown shirts hidden at the back of wardrobes, and the Club are encouraging them to drop any clean, re-usable kit off at the club house or alternatively at the Jones Robinson branch at 139b High Street (the former Lighting of Distinction premises).

For any further information about how to donate unused kit, or anything else about the club contact Marlborough Rugby Football Club on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
