Breaking new ground - Marlborough cyber security firm wins Queen’s Award

Foregenix headquarters staff mark their Queen's AwardForegenix headquarters staff mark their Queen's AwardThe cyber security firm Foregenix - which is based in Marlborough - has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.  It is one of just eighteen awards made to companies in the south-west of England.

Foregenix, which celebrates its 1tenth anniversary this month, received the award for its work in international trade.

It is the first cyber security consultancy with a focus on protecting the payment and finance industries to receive the honour.  Foregenix has its headquarters in Marlborough High Street.

The specialist firm has generated around 60 per cent of its revenue from international sales over the past four years.  Secured through new offices in Boston servicing North America, Sydney servicing Australasia, Frankfurt servicing Europe and Uruguay servicing most of Latin America and in São Paulo servicing Brazil.  This year they have opened a new base in Singapore.

Foregenix offers a range of services including managed detection and response services, digital forensics, compliance and risk services. It is the world’s leading certification company for payment systems on Point-to-Point Encryption and a global authority on ATM cashout attacks.

One of their most recent contracts took staff to the Welgevonden game reserve in South Africa - a UNESCO biosphere reserve.  After the reserve had suffered a major ransomware attack, Foregenix were able to secure their systems - and help with the reserve's anti-poaching systems.   This will increase the capture of poachers from a five per cent chance to a much closer to certainty rate of 85 per cent.

The Queen’s Awards have recognised the achievements of British businesses since 1965 and a limited number of businesses each year receive the accolade for their work from several hundred applications.

Andrew Bontoft is the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer: "It is testimony to the brilliant work and dedication of our global team, that we’ve received this prestigious award. We are very proud of what the team has achieved and grateful for the recognition this award signifies."

Andrew Henwood is Foregenix' Chief Executive Officer: "Foregenix aims to protect businesses and organisations from criminals who attempt to endanger people’s livelihoods and futures, for their own enrichment."

"It is a cause that resonates with our customers, offering practical advice, baked in security and tangible risk reduction globally."

"We are incredibly humbled to be recognised for this prestigious award."

The full Queen's Award citation reads:
"From a standing start in 2009 Marlborough based Foregenix has become a leading force in the delivery of cyber security products and associated consultancy services. It is a world-leading adviser on some of the industry’s most exacting standards such as Point-To-Point Encryption."

"The company has a well-planned strategy which focuses on offering local support though its own offices in Australia, Singapore, South Africa, North and South America, UK, and Germany. Clients range from SMEs to governments and major corporations across a range of sectors. Sales overseas have grown substantially such that Foregenix wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the last three years"
