Marlborough's youth protest demands action from politicians regarding climate change

Young protesters chant their demands from the steps of the Town HallYoung protesters chant their demands from the steps of the Town HallA large group of Marlborough's schools' pupils gathered earlier today (Friday 24 May) on the steps of the Town Hall to add their voices to the million or so students who walked out of their lessons elsewhere in the World to mark the worldwide day of climate change protest.

In Marlborough there could have been more, many more.  The thirty or so from St John's were accompanied by two members of staff and they went to represent the other students who weren't able to attend.

The even younger protestorsThe even younger protestorsBefore leaving St John's a large number of students - estimated at between one and two hundred congregated, chanted and expressed their protest before returning to lessons while their representative group marched down to the Town Hall to join the protest.

The day's protest started in Australia and New Zealand but has spread west across Asia and through Europe involving an estimated 110 countries and is part of the 'Fridays For Future' or 'School Strike for Climate' protest movement.
