Sun smiles on Marlborough for 'in Bloom' judging
The sun shone, the temperature soared to near-record levels and Marlborough looked its best for the visit of judges from the Royal Horticultural Society as they toured the town to view the overall floral displays and the range of fifteen 'In Your Neighbourhood' individual entries.
The day started with a cup of tea and opening address from the Town Crier, Mike Tupman MBE in the Town Hall followed by a gathering outside on the steps for a pic.
And then the viewing started. Judges John Wheatley and Lynette Talbot accompanied by Lady Emma Fellowes, patron of South West in Bloom spent the morning on a walking tour of the town, covering the High Street and main areas of the town followed by lunch at the Savernake View care home.
The afternoon was spent visiting the many 'In Your Neighbourhood' entries, which in previous years have done extremely well with some gaining national recognition.
Will it be Gold for the third year in succession?
Marlborough will discover the answer to this question in the Autumn, on October 11 when the results will be announced and awards presented at a special ceremony to take place in Newquay, Cornwall.
