Screams of excitement, sighs of relief – it’s GCSE results day

Staff, students and parents were celebrating the results at St John’s Academy and Pewsey Vale School. 

 

St Johns students Tom Jackson and Austin Wilson get excited about their GCSE resultsSt Johns students Tom Jackson and Austin Wilson get excited about their GCSE resultsIan Tucker, Principal of St. John’s Academy told marlborough.news:  “I am absolutely delighted with the outcomes for this year’s Year 11.  They have done very, very well.  Eighty percent of Year 11 achieved five standard passes Grades 9-4 inclusive, including English and Maths.  Sixty percent achieved strong passes Grades 9-5 inclusive. 

“There are twenty-five top achieving St John’s students who all achieved at least eight Grade 8’s or 9’s.  Year 11 students have beaten the targets set for them and this means our Progress 8 score is significantly above our target.”

“Huge congratulations to all staff and students who have worked so hard.  We look forward to seeing many of the students in our sixth form.”

Pewsey Vale School Headteacher, Neil Pritchard, told marlborough.news:  “I am delighted with this year’s results.  The hard work that our students and staff have put in has paid dividends.”

“The attainment measure for English and Maths combined is the highest that the school has ever achieved and I am proud of all our students.  Yet again, some of our students have achieved the top grades in the country whereas others have performed well above their targets;   they really have done well.”

“I am particularly pleased that our students have achieved the necessary results for them to progress on to their next destination.  They are about to embark on the next stage of their learning journey, going to a variety of sixth form providers and employers including the highly coveted Marlborough College with whom we have a scholarship partnership and Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College.”

“Today, we can celebrate their successes and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
