Local charity wins BBC Children in Need grant
Local charity, Home-Start Kennet, which is based in Pewsey, is celebrating having secured an important grant from BBC Children in Need.
Home-Start, which supports families struggling to cope, says the £30,000 grant will help them continue their home visiting support service.
Last year, the charity helped 98 local families and 198 children. Volunteers visit families weekly - giving emotional and practical support to help them cope with challenges such as isolation, loneliness, mental health, bereavement and multiple birth.
Tania Rackham is Home-Start Kennet's Scheme Manager: “We are over the moon to have been awarded funding from BBC Children in Need. As demand for our service continues and looks set to grow, it will help us help even more military and civilian families.”
The charity was invited to talk about its work on last month's live BBC Children in Need show. Tania Rackham was there: “Live TV is nerve-racking, but Eileen - one of our trustees -and Amber - a mum of twins who we’ve helped - were amazing!”
