SALISBURY ROAD DEVELOPMENT: Redrow Homes submit detailed plans to Wiltshire Council - fewer homes to be built
Before Redrow Homes South West have received the official Wiltshire Council response to their application to vary the outline planning permission they bought with the land from the Crown Estate, they have now put in a further planing application with detailed plans.
These include a 39-page booklet showing the types and styles of homes the development will include - with floor plans. The design pictured on the right is a three storey block of one-bedroom affordable flats.
Their previous variation application included Redrow's decision to sell on the hotel site so it could be built by a different company - and also a change to the phasing of the development. The new plans include the site for a hotel.
These new plans are for 167 one, two, three, four and five bedroom homes. Of these 66 - or forty per cent of the total - will be categorised as 'affordable'. Some will be marketed under shared ownership and some will be for 'affordable rent'.
The outline planning permission was for the development of 'up to 175 homes'.
This a 'reserved matters' planning application under which developers can alter plans given 'outline' permission. Redrow will still have to go to the 'full planning permission' stage of the process.
Marlborough Town Council wanted to be involved in this stage of the planning process - but their request has been denied by Wiltshire Council.
The detailed plans include a pond adjacent to the A346 and an equipped play area.
They also show for the first time the routes of the two oil pipelines that cross the site - and which have to have a ten metre 'easement' or non-dwelling space around them. And they show how the drinking-water source will be protected.
This application has fifty-three documents covering issues from tree protection and storey heights to fire tender access. Submitting this application has cost Redrow Homes South West £32,504.
This application was registered by Wiltshire Council on Thursday (April 20) and the consultation period expires on May 25. Wiltshire Council's target date for a decision on this application is July 20.
