Coronavirus: Manton residents group together to support those in need in the community
A group of Manton residents have delivered cards to all households in the viillage informing them how to get help if they are in need, in self-quarantine, and unable to get out to pick up essentials or prescriptions. The card lists an emergency number to be called between 09:00 and 19:00 and an e-mail address.
The group is comprised of the Manton Resident's Association, Manton Village Hall and Manton Grange and is headed by Fred Goltz from Manton Grange.
Plans are also being drawn up for a take-away food service to be run from The Oddfellows, where volunteers will take food out to those households in self isolation.
"I've been really surprised and heartened by the immediate response from the community so far" commented Roger Grant, of the Manton Village Hall Committee. "Lots of residents have come forward to volunteer" he added, commenting that one housebound resident thanked him when he was out delivering the cards saying 'How lucky they were to live in such a caring village".
