In depth probe under way into Manton footpath controversy

The boundary controversy over Footpath 39/40 at Manton is to be settled by an independent company that Wiltshire Council has called in to examine all the historic maps covering the area.

“This in depth and independent survey of all the documents is already under way and has been for a month or more,” Amenities and Open Spaces Committee chairman Councillor Richard Pitts told councillors on Monday.

He added the villagers in Manton had been informed of Wiltshire Council’s action at a meeting in its community centre.
