Farm Watch report highlights red diesel thefts

Written by Tony Millett.

Wiltshire Police’s monthly Farm Watch round-up says that of the 79 rural crimes reported during August, 48 offences were on farms.

Thefts of the red diesel, the farmers’ fuel, are growing - particularly in our area.  Combine harvesters left in fields overnight are a target for these thieves.

During July and August twelve quadbikes and ten 4x4s (six of them Land Rovers) were stolen across the county – thirteen from farms.

As the harvest clears more fields of standing crops, there have been forty calls to police reporting hare coursing and poaching incidents.

The Rural Team contact for Marlborough is PCSO 6017 John Bordiss – telephone 101 extension 739817 and mobile 07968942116.
