Marlborough Area Board grants agreed - with funding for Shopmobilty

At its meeting on Tuesday (January 26) the Marlborough Area Board agreed two general grant applications and two youth grants put forward by the Local Youth Network.  Unitary councillors also agreed start-up funding for a Shopmobility scheme for Marlborough.

Kennet valley Hall gets £1,225 towards the purchase of a new ride-on mower.  Marlborough in Bloom gets £1,066 towards its plans for 2016 - but those will not include planting anymore apple trees and some money may be returned to the Board if it is not all used.

A youth grant of £1,660 went to Marlborough Golf Club supporting its initiative to introduce more young people to golf.  The club's professional, Simon Amor, stressed that the money would be used for coaching and some new equipment - and would be matched from Club funds.

The Wider Local Youth Network received £5,000 to start planning its summer MY Music Festival - to be held on Saturday, September 24 at a green site on the Marlborough College campus.

The Shopmobility scheme for Marlborough is a collaborative plan by Marlborough Town Council, the Area Board and the Mobility Store.  Funding was agreed for £8,545 - mainly for electric scooters, wheelchairs and associated equipment.

There is still £14,000 of the 2015-16 Area Board grant budget to be decided at March's final meeting of this financial year.
