Driver runs from scene of A346 accident - police seek witnesses
Later news: Following this crash Wiltshire police say a Marlborough man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. William David Kirby, of Roger's Meadow, has been released on unconditional bail and is due at Swindon Magistrates on November 16. Neither driver was injured, but the road was closed for one-and-a-half hours.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver left the scene of a collision on the A346 between Ogbourne St George and Chiseldon.
On Tuesday, November 1, around 5pm, a blue Nissan X-Trail and a blue Audi A5 collided near to the entrance of Whitefield Farm.
The man driving the Nissan and his woman passenger got out of the vehicle and ran off across nearby fields, however the woman returned soon after.
The 58-year-old man driving the Audi was un-hurt as was the woman passenger in the Nissan.
Police still need to speak to the driver of the Nissan.
PC Richard Barratt said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man running across fields in this area or along the old railway track between Ogbourne St George and Chiseldon around this time."
"I appreciate it was dark, but someone may have seen something."
"Also, if anyone saw a man acting suspiciously either in Ogbourne or Chiseldon that evening, please contact me."
