Quiz evening raises £900 for Walk the Walk breast cancer appeal

The Marlborough team of Eva Wood, Kiran Haisman, Helen Wilkes and Jan Drew’s fundraising for The Moonwalk London Marathon was given a boost when they raised £900 from a quiz evening - complete with chilli meal and raffle last week.

Taking time off from training to celebrate with a glass of prosecco, Helen and her friends told Marlborough.News: “It was very successful - we sold over 80 tickets and the money from the sale of the tickets and the raffle enabled us to raise over £900 towards our target."

"We couldn’t have done it without the help of Mark and the team at the Rugby Football Club and also Nick Webb who was our quiz master. We are progressing well with our training and the miles walked will now increase as we get even closer to the big day - or night!”

And the big day - or night - is only six weeks away.  Setting off from Clapham Common at midnight on May 13, the Marlborough four will join thousands of others and walk through the night wearing decorated bras.

The theme of the decorations this year is the Roaring Twenties...decorated bras or flapper dresses and cloche hats.

Walk the Walk charity supports research into breast cancer, helps improve the lives of those with the cancer, and encourages people to improve their levels of fitness.  [See our earlier report.]
