Manton Drove recycling work to stop by 3 July
Despite being refused planning permission to turn Manton Weir Barn on Manton Drove - just off the A345 south of Marlborough - into a recycling centre, work is still going on there.
Wiltshire Councillor Stewart Dobson has had complaints about continuing activity there. He told the Marlborough Town Council meeting (May 22) that he had reported the matter to Wiltshire Council and their enforcement officer has told the firm working there they have to clear the site by July 3.
The planning application submitted by Skip-Rite Limited of Ludgershall was to convert the agricultural barn into a waste recycling and processing plant. The application was roundly condemned by Marlborough Town Council, objected to by several neighbouring parish councils and was refused by Wiltshire Council on a variety of grounds.
In recent days, it has been reported to marlborough.news that there has been at least one contretemps between a car driver and one of the recycling trucks that was blocking the narrow roadway of Manton Drove.
