Clarification of roles after Wiltshire Council's NHS announcementEarlier in the week (June 21) we reported the surprise announcement by Wiltshire Council's leader Baroness Scott that the new leader for the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be a joint appointment with the Council - doubling up as director of the Council's adult care services.
There seems to have been some sort of mix-up as on Friday (June 23) a new and joint announcement was made by the CCG's Chairman, Dr Peter Jenkins, and Baroness Scott.
This made it clear that "The Clinical Commissioning Group remains the statutory body responsible for commissioning health care in Wiltshire." And it confirmed the joint appointment.
The joint statement continued: "The challenges faced by the health and care system are huge; one way to address the issues we face quickly is to integrate the leadership of health and social care services across our organisations, before exploring further options together."
