Horse racing: future of training at famed Manton yard secured
The trainer of many successful horses for flat racing, Brian Meehan is to buy Manton's famous yard and equally famous gallops and intends to be there "...for the duration".
He has been training there since 2006 and since early 2015 has been leasing the yard and gallops from Paul Clarke, who bought most of the Manton Estate from the Sangster family.
Meehan told marlboroughequestrian.news: "I've been a fixture here for years - now I'll be a very much more permanent fixture." He is thrilled Paul Clarke has given him the chance to buy the facility - one of the finest training yards in the country.
Earlier in the year, trainer George Baker left Manton Estate's other training yard - Barton Yard - and it has been bought by an American for polo ponies.
