Schools caught up in the bad weatherSt John's Academy is closing at 11.15 on Thursday (March 1) with Barnes & Pewsey vale coaches back at the school at 11.15.
The school's first announcement on Twitter said that service buses will operate normal timetable and will not be at the school early, but the school buildings will stay open all day for students who cannot get home.
A second announcement said that students from Pewsey and Hungerford who normally use the "...service buses 20, 620 and X5 will have coach transport arranged for them. Students should wait in the atrium at 11.15 for announcements."
At nine o'clock many pupils appeared to be leaving for home just as soon as they had got to school.
One parent reacted to St John's twitter announcements: "What was the point? For one period? A little unorganised on your behalf if I'm honest, my daughter went in this morning from Bedwyn - a miss use of resources."
Another parent responded: "I didn't send mine in due to an outbreak of common sense and taking heed of the met office Amber warnings plus the gale/snowing outside the window."
Marlborough St Mary's Primary put an announcement on their website: "School is closing today at 11.30 am due to snow!! If you haven’t already brought your children to school you may keep them at home. Please check for more information about tomorrow."
By 7.30am Pewsey Primary School's website had a very prominent announcement: "1/3/18 - School open this morning, but may need to close early. If your child uses school transport they will not be able to collect early so keep at home if you can't collect."
