Support for new mini-roundaboutTown Councillors on the Planning Committee have agreed to support and to lobby for a new mini-roundabout at the top of Herd Street - to ease and make safer the turn into and out of the Acres.
The substantive parts of a written motion from Councillor Harry Forbes were amended to fit the location - and then passed by the Committee. Calls for the mini-roundabout have received wide support on social media.
The Committee also agreed to 'support in principle' commissioning a traffic plan for the whole town. This might cost up to £35,000 - and further investigations about plans commissioned by other market towns will be made.
Councillor Mervyn Hall pointed out that "Wiltshire Council have no money to enact the plan...It would be a waste of money."
