A planning application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council for change of use of The Three Horseshoes pub at Stibb Green, Burbage. Its new owners want to turn into a private residence.
The last tenant left the pub in 2017 and it has been empty ever since. Wadworth and Co have sold the building and its car park.
The planning application is for the pub, its garden and “part of the parking area”. There is speculation that the rest of the parking area may be sold off later for new build housing.
The application includes a Viability Report that concludes The Three Horseshoes is not viable as a village pub with little or no passing trade. It quotes the number of beer barrels supplied to the pub as falling from 72 in 2013-2014 down to 44 in its last full year – 2016-2017.
However, all other figures used to prove the pub is not viable have been redacted in the application papers – 18/04678/FUL. The consultation period ends on June 28.
