Greatwood founder diesMichael Yeadon who - with his wife Helen - founded the Greatwood Charity for retired racehorses, has died after a long illness.
Greatwood was started in Devon in 1998 and then moved to a farm at Clench Common south of Marlborough.
The charity looks after and re-homes retired racehorses and uses them to help educate disadvantaged children and children with learning difficulties. It has helped many children from across the wider Marlborough area.
Saturday (March 2) is Greatwood Day at Newbury Racecourse and the 3.10pm two mile race has been renamed as the “In Memory of the Late Michael Yeadon Handicap Hurdle”.
