Saturday’s (24 August) Garden Party for Swindon & District Samaritans raised over £600 for the group as more than 60 people came for a wander around the beautiful gardens of Martinsell Farm on Clench Common whilst indulging in some very tasty cakes on one of the sunniest days of the year so far. Swindon & District Samaritans wholeheartedly thank Diana and Ray for hosting the event which will enable the Samaritans’ listening volunteers to continue to really listen to anyone who is having a difficult time – every six seconds a Samaritans volunteer answers a call for help.
On behalf of the whole branch – Darren Tee, volunteer director of Swindon & District Samaritans, thanked everyone who attended for their support with a special thanks going to Diana and Ray for all their hard work and for being so welcoming to everyone who visited …saying: “we need to raise £70,00 a year to run and maintain our local branch and we spend all the money we raise locally in order to be there for when it really matters just by listening, without interrupting and not telling people what to do. The money that Diana and Ray have raised supports us in continuing to always be there, no matter what anyone is going through”.
