'A Funeral March for Planet Earth' - Extinction Rebellion to hold march along Marlborough High Street on Saturday 28 September

Pall bearers from the Marlborough & Devizes Exctinction Rebellion protest group will carry a symbolic coffin at the head of a 'Funeral March for Planet Earth' along the north side of Marlborough High Street, assembling outside the Library adjacent to St Peter's Church at 11am.

Gill Goode, local area resident and co-ordinator for the group, said:  “Our planet is dying before our eyes. This funeral march is a chance to symbolically mourn the ecological loss that we have already witnessed but also to sound a warning about the future for humanity if we don’t act on the climate crisis now.  This is a chance for all local people to make their voices heard and to press our political leaders for real and visible action.”

The march will be an opportunity for local people to make their voices heard and to send a message to local and national politicians for the need for urgent action on the climate crisis.

Ahead of the funeral march, Extinction Rebellion Devizes and Marlborough will be holding a social evening and free film screening of ‘Burned – A film for Anyone Who Cares About Forest’ on 12 September 2019 at St Andrews Church, Devizes.

The film evening will begin at 7.15pm with the opportunity to watch the evocative film, meet members of the Extinction Rebellion local group and to find out more about planned activities.  To read about all the group’s events please visit their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/XRDevizes/
