Marlborough enlargement now unlikely
Last month we reported that Marlborough Town Council had expressed interest in Wiltshire Council's offer to review parish boundaries.
Marlborough councillors considered a plan to incorporate Preshute and Savernake parishes within the Marlborough boundary.
It is now clear that Wiltshire Council had more requests from local councils to review boundaries than was expected - seventy requests in all. Marlborough's expression of interest is not among the small number of cases selected to be taken forward.
In a letter to the chairman of Savernake Parish the Town Clerk wrote: "This means, at this stage, that it is unlikely that Wiltshire Council would consider Marlborough's expression of interest in a review for some years and so it is not a priority for the Town Council."
